Kashmir not a real estate issue, says Mirwaiz

In his first sermon, after 57 days of detention, at the historic Jamia Masjid, Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday asked the “people of India and the dispensation in New Delhi to stop looking at the Kashmir problem as a real estate issue.”

“A resolution will always be reached provided there is willingness to accept the facts and compassion, humanity and mutual respect among the parties involved. Aggression and repression can never resolve anything but only aggravate it,” said the Mirwaiz, also the Kashmir valley’s head priest.

“It’s a human issue concerning hundreds of thousands of people and divided families. The issue is hanging fire since the last 70 years, leading to great sufferings and loss of life on all sides and begs for a just resolution,” said the Mirwaiz.
