Gionee Steel 2 with 4000 mAh battery, 4G LTE support launched

China’s smartphone maker Gionee has launched new  Steel 2  smartphone in its home- country. The smartphone  is powered by MediaTek’s MT6737 chipset with quad-core processor  and is backed by 4000 mAh battery. The device costs 1,299 Yuan(approx Rs 12, 784) and is up for pre-orders.

Gionee Steel 2 features a 5-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixel resolution. The smartphone runs Android Marshmallow based Amigo3.5.  It also has a home button on the front which doubles up as fingerprint scanner. The smartphone comes with 3GB RAM and will be available in 16GB and 32GB ROM size variants. The internal storage is expandable using a microSD card.

On the camera front, the smartphone sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front selfie-shooter. The connectivity options on board are  4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as major connectivity options.

While Gionee Steel 2 is a budget phone, the last phone launched by the company in China was a pricier one. The Gionee M2017 which was launched during December 2017 in China is priced at Yuan 6999 which is nearly Rs 68,275 for the  6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage variant and Yuan 1,699 which is approximately Rs 1,65,875 for the 256GB variant.

Gionee M2017 features a 5.7-inch AMOLED QHD display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 653 processor. It comes with 6GB LPDDR3 RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. No option to expand the storage.  The Gionee M2017 smartphone has a dual-camera setup on the back with 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel camera sensors along with an LED flash. On the front it carries an 8-megapixel camera. Gionee M2017 phone carries two 3500mAh battery modules and supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 technology. Connectivity options include 4G+, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0 Type-C port, WiFi, OTG and GPS and also comes with FM Radio support.  There are no words on the India launch of the two phones.
